Prototyping results

In short the results from the prototyping were as follows:

MICE: No problems there the prototype worked fine.

Monster Breeder: No problems, the prototype woked fine.

Disaster Master: Massive problems with balancing, although it went a bit better the second time, the disaster master never stood a chance in either of the tests.

I am finally done with the prototypes, now I just have to go to school and print them. As it turns out there are only cards in my paper prototype, with the exception of a map, and 8 mice…and a cat, which has made things much easier for me.

I am fairly sure the Monster Breeder and the MICE prototypes will go well. The Disaster Master…not so much.

The Disaster Master will have a full playtest. The cards and their values are almost randomized. There will without doubt be huge balancing issues there.

On monster Breeder I’ll test the creature creation theory. The plan will be to check if the making of monsters feel logical and intuitive. I am expecting a few logical gaps as you are creating non-existing monsters.

With Mice I want to see how easy it is to make plans. I want to see what kind of approaches will be taken. I have chosen a quite easy scenario that will probably be somewhere in the beginning of the game.

There is a slight worry of mine that I might not have enough printer money. If that’s the case I have real problem, that will probably mean that I’ll have to do some prototypes on Thursday instead, which won’t be optimal.

I have now finished and sent in the research document. It’sone day(or night) later than I planned, so that’s bad.

I did the presentations yesterday. It went quite well. Though I got told that I should’ve done more comparisons to other games and had more pictures for it to be proper good.

20 ideas descriptionI am now done with all 20 descriptions, they avareged out on ca: 1 page per idea.

After reding through the descriptions I found something interesting that I hadn’t thought of earlier. I seem to gravitate towards having ideas that incorprate licenses, conspiracies and/or design…

I would’ve uploaded the document, but I don’t know how to do that.

Hard bugger to remeber.

Today Annakaisa unwillingly and hesitantly approved my project plan.

I am also done with 14 descriptions and I plan to have them all finished before the week ends.

I see I’ve forgotten to post much this week.

There is not much to say, I have worked on the project plan and filled it all in. Now I am just waiting to hear if it is approved.

I have made description on 10 games so far. I am not worried about the size anymore as they seem to average out on just under 1 page per description.
